How do I know what door package to choose?
Your door package will be as individual as your facility. Each facility has different elements that it must deal with; high traffic, corrosive materials, extreme moisture, the list just goes on. Let our expert technical staff custom fit a solution to your facility. You can fill out our downloadable door survey sheet to help guide your way.

How do I know which operator - door opener to use?

Electric or air-powered, jack shaft or trolley. A lot to choose from. Factors to consider: location of the operator, in the attic or mechanical room, in a high moisture area, constant change in temperature, high cycle rate (open and closing of the door) maintenance frequency, weight of the door and of course, budget.

How do I measure headroom space?

The distance from the top of the door opening to the ceiling is your headroom.

What is the difference between a full vision section and a polycarbonate section?

Visibility, strength, and insulation value. A full vision section (UltraClear) allows you to see clearly through the panel with less insulation. A polycarbonate tricell panel has a lower visibility factor but, offers a R4 insulation value and stronger panel.

Plexiglas, Polycarbonate, Lexan... What's the difference?
Strength and brittleness. Cost is a factor also. Our polycarbonate panels (which is Lexan) are stronger and have a higher R-value but visibility is less, about 83%. Plexiglas (which is acrylic) have a higher visibility but is not as hard, which can benefit you in impact resistance.

Why should I choose stainless steel over galvanized track?
Durability. Contrary to what you might think, galvanized track will rust over time. Galvanizing is a zinc coating on a steel part. Galvanizing will wear off. Stainless Steel is steel that has chromium and sometimes nickel that still remains as the track wears down. Galvanized track is still a great choice if you are on a budget and don't anticipate extremely high moisture.

Can I customize my door color to my facility?

American Garage Door Supply Inc. can customize your door color using a powdercoat or anodizing technology to match your door to your facility color scheme. Operators and ClearVue panels

Bearingless rollers, bearing rollers... What?
Bearingless Rollers are for a medium/low weight, low cycle door and are for the areas that may have excess moisture but a clean environment. Bearing rollers are to use with heavier and higher cycle doors.

Why did my salesperson spec out two different size of rollers?
They did that to protect you and your customer. The longer stems are placed in the corners of the doors to prevent derailment. If the door is hit, it won't come off the stem and out of the track and potentially hurt anyone

Why is there condensation in my polycarbonate tri-wall panel?
Porosity. Polycarbonate is hydroscopic, meaning that water vapor can pass through into the panel creating a fog or condensation due to temperature and moisture differences between indoors and outdoors. This is a characteristic of Polycarbonate (lexan) that so far has yet to be eliminated.
